Try Before You Buy

Home of the 2 week hearing aid trial

One of the most common comments we get from clients is "I am not sure if a hearing aid is for me" or "I am not sure if I could get used to wearing a hearing aid all the time".

So, we listened and introduced our "Try before you buy option", which allows you to try any of our hearing systems* for up to 14 days free of charge*

This gives you the peace of mind that you can hear better when wearing your hearing system and you can cope with fitting your hearing aids. It’s also important that you can look after your hearing system with things like cleaning, changing batteries, or using a rechargeable option.

FAQs

1. What Are the Easiest Hearing Aids to Put In?

Behind the Ear (BTE) hearing aids are typically considered the easiest to put in by yourself. They hang over the back of the ear,  giving you an easy area to attach them.

Another easy option is the In the Canal (ITC) hearing aids. These mimic the use of earphones, so many find them to be just as easy.

Whichever option you choose, we’ll show you how to insert them and help you learn how to put them in by yourself. If you’re still struggling after trying them out for a while, our 60-day money-back guarantee lets you return them!

2. Which Hearing Aid Is Better, Behind the Ear or in the Ear?

This depends on your personal preferences, and which features you’re looking for. If you want a basic hearing aid that’s easy to use and discreet, then in-ear hearing aids are the perfect choice for you.

If you’re looking for more advanced functions such as Bluetooth connectivity or rechargeability, or you have profound hearing loss and other difficulties, then behind-the-ear hearing aids might be a more suitable option.

3. How Do I Know if I Need Hearing Aids?

You may notice that you’re struggling to hear the TV, can’t follow along with conversations, or ask people to repeat themselves frequently. These are but a few reasons why it might be time to get your hearing checked. If you find yourself struggling with hearing and feel unsure, it’s always best to get a hearing test, no matter the reason.

At Hearing Excellence, we offer private hearing tests that will provide you with detailed information and advice to help you move forward with your hearing journey. Visit our hearing tests page for more information.

4. How Much Are Hearing Aids?

Hearing aid models can vary a lot based on their brand, features and type. At Hearing Excellence Clinic, our Fit & Go Range of hearing aids starts at £1095 for one and £2190 for a pair.

5. How Do Hearing Aids Work?

Hearing aids work by amplifying sound waves so that people with hearing loss can hear better. They work using a three-part system:

  1. The microphone receives sound and converts it into a digital signal.

  2. The amplifier increases the strength of the digital signal.

  3. A small speaker sends the amplified sound waves into the ear.

In the ear, these sound waves are converted into electrical impulses which the brain processes as sound.

6. What Level of Hearing Loss Requires a Hearing Aid?

Hearing aids can be beneficial for people with mild, moderate and severe hearing loss. Mild hearing loss often means difficulty hearing soft sounds, while severe hearing loss typically means difficulty hearing even loud sounds.

If you’re experiencing hearing loss, it’s best to book a hearing air consultation or hearing test with a qualified audiologist who will be able to assess your hearing and determine whether a hearing aid is the best option for you.

7. Will a Hearing Aid Help With Ringing in the Ears?

Tinnitus UK regards hearing aids as an effective treatment for tinnitus and research has shown they are “remarkably effective” for patients with single-sided tinnitus and hearing loss in the same ear. However, larger studies are needed to fully confirm the effectiveness of hearing aids for those with tinnitus.

9. How Do You Clean Hearing Aids?

To clean your hearing aids, you can use a soft cloth or a soft brush. You should follow the manufacturer’s recommendations for cleaning your type of hearing aid, but here are some general tips to follow:

  • Wash and dry your hands before beginning.

  • Wipe your hearing aids with a damp cloth or wet wipe (avoid wipes with chemicals or alcohol).

  • Use a soft brush to remove any debris.

  • Don’t wash your hearing aids in water.

10. Which Brand of Hearing Aid Is Best in the UK?

The best hearing aid for you will depend on your needs and the features that you’re looking for. At the Hearing Excellence Clinic, we are not tied to any specific manufacturer, so we will be able to recommend the best option for you from the most trusted UK hearing aid manufacturers, including:
